Does anyone know which collet is used in the old Rusnok model 70 vertical head? This mill head was used on the Sheldon model 0 horizontal mill. The Sheldon catalog says it uses A9041-Y1 or A9041-Y2 collets. A9041 is the part number for the mill. I think I read somewhere that this mill uses a plain Y collet.

No direct experience, but many people seem to consider a Rusnok head on a Benchmaster mill to be a match made in heaven. One point to consider is that the Rusnok head will reduce vertical space vs. the original. Be aware that there are 2 types of Rusnok heads, the model 70 Convertical and the model ST Heavy Duty.

Ever since I fully restored my bigger mill (Index Model 40), I've not used the Rusnok model 70 at all. It's a shame to let it sit. The head is mounted on a Precise mill base with a 6x20" table. It's been converted to variable speed with a Dayton 3/4hp DC motor with digital RPM readout. It speeds all the way up to 5,500 RPM smoothly.

I would stay away from that specific machine, it is really beat up, and has a lever for moving x ways versus preferred wheel. For that size machine, you should checkout the Burke No 4 Milling Machine, many available in good shape and you'll have powered x ways, and if lucky you might find the vertical head as well.
